Camp Elim Photos and Info.

Hi Families,
We had an incredible time at Camp Elim last week! However, as a mom, I know that children often don't like to spend too much time sharing with us the adventures that they have away from home.
Below are a few photos that our wonderful volunteers sent me this evening. I hope you enjoy the "Window" into our Voyage.

Our crew in front of the lodge

The Art and Crafts Shack
We made a craft and had an indoor campfire while it rained outside.
The rain didn't bother us at all!

Teambuilding activity in the large meeting room.

Mr. Cody led our campfire activities
(Mr. Cody is our Adventure Education Co-ordinator)

Meeting in the Game Room
(We had an indoor bouldering wall and lots of games)

Having a snack and learning about baby pine trees

Learning about plants and seeing Pikes Peak covered with snow

First day - we hiked around the lake and saw so many interesting animals etc.
We even saw a beaver swimming in the lake!

Happy faces at bedtime!

Hope you enjoy the photos!

More Climbing Pictures

Hi Families,
Thank you again to all families who volunteered to belay in the gym last week!
We had eight or nine adult volunteers every day. It made a huge difference for the children! Instead of lining up for long periods children were able to climb everything they wanted to and every child challenged him/herself to attempt new challenges. I witnessed the transfer into the classroom when children displayed more confidence and became greater risk takers e.g., in reading, writing, and math. Our Adventure Education is tied directly to what happens in the classroom and makes a visible positive impact on student learning!
Lisa and I took lots of photos. Instead of choosing just a few, I found that I can post them all. We hope you enjoy them!
First you will see some of the amazing scientific drawings children did of their mealworms. These will be housed in student portfolios.
